The Killers ---> Reminding us what's important

One of the coolest things that I've discovered on my mission, is the fact that the lead singer in the band "The Killers," Brandon Flowers, is a Latter-Day Saint. I've listened to their songs and I am proud to say that I own quite a few of them on my Ipod and laptop back home.
What's funny about it is, that while listening to their songs before, I have had the thought run through my head, "this is written by a Mormon." But then followed the "Naaaahh- Mormons don't write good, catchy songs for the radio." Yes, I am a mean person, I know that. Can you blame me though? The songs meant something, but they were far too good, in my opinion, to have been written by an LDS. So you can imagine the absolute shock I felt when I discovered at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah, that these fantastic songs really were written by a Mormon!!! It was like running into a brick wall! I should know, I've done that before. Chastised once more, I shall never underestimate the creative ability of a Mormon again.
Truth be told, I idolize anyone who can hold true to their standards while in the limelight. He does exactly that. I love the value he puts in his family. His success has come from knowing exactly who he is, and what is important to him. The fact that he has "made it" in the business, doesn't take precedence over his family. We should all strive to put as much effort into our home and family life as he does. On top of it all, he writes good songs that, like I've said before, mean something. Rather than the filthy stuff you usually catch on the radio.
