I Want Cheese

I am lactose intolerant. It's a fact of life, and I have to learn to live with it. My entire life, up until a year ago, I ignored this fact. And because I was ignoring it, I never realized how sick it was making me. When I cut it out of my diet completely, it was like a brand new day! I didn't realize I could feel so good! Cutting out dairy isn't very easy. In fact, it's one of the hardest things I've ever done. I am a fan of anything milky. Ice cream, cheese, yogurt, cheese, sour cream, cheese, chocolate, and cheese. Getting rid of these things was essential though, for my health.
The "rules" we have in church are kind of like my situation with milk. We have them in place as a guideline for things we should avoid, because they don't allow you to feel the spirit, or feel "good". They are extremely enticing for a lot of different people. Some more than others. One person might really like a drink every now and then, while someone else really likes their afternoon cigarette. BUT, these things prohibit us from reaching our full potential. We are weighed down by the things that cause damage to our bodies. When you are busy taking part in unhealthy things, the Holy Ghost can NOT be with you.
No matter how good those things sound or look, remember that there is a reason we avoid them. The presence of the Holy Ghost is worth much more than a drag, trip, or stupor. And way more than a hangover. I know how hard it is, I LOVE cheese. I miss it so much! But in my body it does more damage than good. Therefore I avoid it so that my performance in my work can be at its best.
